pretty pjs + good morning, NYFW

December 24, 2018 by Brittany Emery

I know I am late on getting some of these photos up from New York Fashion Week, but how appropriate are pretty PJs with the only morning of the year where you get photographed in such happening tomorrow? This is exactly why this post has two names. First, we’ll talk morning wear you want to be seen in and wear all day, followed by the low-down on this beautiful spot.

If you haven’t heard Abercrombie & Fitch is back in the game with stylish apparel and killer deals, you’ve likely been living under a rock. I purchased some of my first pieces in 10-15 years in preparation for fashion week, which you may have noticed if you’ve been following me on Instagram. Since then, the promotions continue to roll through, and I just can’t help myself. This sherpa cardigan is literally all I want to wear when I’m at home, but I keep having to fight Winnie for it. I’ve linked a few of my favorite cozies for snuggling up below!

good morning, NYFW // ever after emery

Cassidy and I were so excited to return to our favorite hotel, The Ludlow, on the LES for our trip to NYFW. We had stayed in the Queen Terrace before, which features a patio, and we thought this would be the perfect time of year to truly soak it up, but it spent the better part of the long weekend soaked. Ba dum ch.

The problem with our sights on this unique experience (the terrace may be bigger than the room LOL). It was booked the first night we were going to be there! We were bummed, but decided what better time to splurge on the SkyBox, and then move rooms down to the terrace when it was available. The Ludlow was great about accommodating our resourceful request, and even moved our bags for us when it was ready. Not gonna lie, we were pretty proud of our ingenious idea!

We thoroughly enjoyed the views our first day/night/morning on the East Side. It honestly doesn’t get any better than a dreary day taking in the concrete jungle. After sleeping in later than planned, Cassidy ventured out to get us breakfast at the infamous Tompkins Square Bagels while I started getting ready. I was thrilled to enjoy a gluten free bagel with chocolate chip cookie dough cream cheese. I mean, honestly. I love New York.

We highly recommend The Ludlow, regardless of where you stay, but The Skybox and Terrace rooms are quite the treat. The Skybox also includes a tub with a view, as well as a small juliette balcony. The views just make my NYC loving heart beat a little faster. The service is amazing, the décor is unparalleled, the vintage bathrooms are luxurious, and as a guest at the hotel, you have exclusive access to the rooftop, which is like a quiet oasis vantage point of the hustle and bustle below. Cassidy and I love heading up there at night.

This A&F sweater is so soft and comes in several great colorways. I love a classic gray, just like I love a classic ivory. Seriously, what is wrong with me sometimes? I guess when you find something that works, it’s hard to branch out, no matter who you are! And I am most certainly a creature of comfort.

new york uniform

December 13, 2018 by Brittany Emery

This look, or some version of it, has become my go to for evenings in NYC. I am always so inspired when I’m submersed in New York fashion. There are plenty of opportunities for over the top, trendy, fashion forward looks, but there’s also something to be said for the no fuss or frills edgy vibes. I love the ease of a basic tee and leather jacket, the layer for nights where you need it, and sneakers because New York.

I had a faux leather jacket for years and barely rocked it, but after my first trip to the big apple, I knew it was a necessity, and my staple was revived. I have since upgraded during this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (although still repping those faux feels), and I loved being able to take it for Fashion Week.

Cassidy and I were really hoping we were going to be able to make it one more time this year for Christmas because we’ve never been, but it just didn’t work out with all the transitions. There’s always next year, right?! I guess two times in one year will have to do, considering we’ve also been four times in the last three years… so I’m not complaining. We’re still working on where we’re headed this late winter/spring, but I of course foresee a trip to our favorite city at some point in 2019.

I’ve shared some of my favorite vegan leather jackets below because you just can’t street style in NYC without one.

hello, it's me.

December 11, 2018 by Brittany Emery

“Hello, it’s me.

I was wondering if after all these years you’d like to meet.” - Adele

But seriously, I can’t believe how long it has been since I last posted on the ole blog-o (It’s been over a month, in case you weren’t keeping tabs like me). I really feel like this year I have been able to focus so much more on consistent and quality content than I ever have in the past, and I even tried to preemptively prepare for the tumultuous weeks I knew would come, but in reality it was just too much to maintain, hard as I tried to find the time.

So, here we are. Hello from Columbus! I had so many ideas for holiday looks and decor to share, but real life, I sit in a sea of boxes with a snuggly but clingy little pup. The holiday decor thus far has maxed out at the adorable shimmery red and green tartan bows the groomer added to my dog before we left Indy. They usually don’t stay in for this long, but I haven’t had the heart to take them out as they’ve tangled because it is literally the only holiday spirit in our apartment currently… and they’re seriously melt my soul too cute for words.

We’ve ordered some furniture and such, but still have a ways to go (beyond unloading the boxes), and I’m excited to share more of our space! We honestly love the area already, but are looking forward to continuing to explore and settle in.

In other news, Lily & Sparrow has some super cute new arrivals, and regardless of when you’re actually reading this post, they have been hosting some killer deals as well. This dress is simple, but extremely versatile. I love it with sneakers for bopping around the city on the weekend, but add some tights, booties, a little bit of sparkle, and you’ve got yourself a party.

fall stripes + blair eadie

November 05, 2018 by Brittany Emery

This was such a fantastic weekend with the leaves changing, all the football, and the perfect weather. I also seized the opportunities to premiere some of my new Blair Eadie pieces. She designed a beautiful Halogen x Atlantic-Pacific collection with Nordstrom. A lot of the pieces sold within the first hour of the launch (don’t worry, I bought mine in three minutes flat), but some of my favorites, like this turtleneck, are still available in some sizes. I was showered with so many compliments on these shoes both times I wore them this weekend and had everyone asking where they could snag a pair. I still linked them here, but may the odds be ever in your favor.

If you need some additional styling inspiration, Blair has offered countless ways to mix and match on her blog. She is one of the first bloggers I ever followed, and I’ve always gained so much inspiration from her. With a comprehensive background in the industry, she has consistently made an effort to maintain a focus on fashion in both her blog and social media. I remember back when her posts hardly offered any text and were solely imagery. I admire the way this ever-changing bizarre industry has never deterred her from her goals, but she has always remained true to who she is and what she set out to do.

Sweater weather. Need I say more?

I had so much fun shooting with Liz Alig for her fall collection. Props to her as the designer, and Nate Canada for snagging the action shot.
